In a surprising turn of events, the serial callers affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region have declared a strike, citing poor welfare conditions and unfulfilled promises by the party’s regional executives. The decision, communicated through a press release, has shaken the party’s communication dynamics and raised concerns about internal dissatisfaction.
The press release, signed by Umar Faruk Sabonjida, the Group Secretary of the serial callers, outlines the reasons behind the drastic move. The members express deep frustration with the failure of the party’s regional leadership, particularly the Communication Directorate, to address their socioeconomic concerns.
Among the grievances listed in the release are the unmet promises of job opportunities for qualified members, agricultural support for those engaged in farming, financial assistance for business owners, scholarships for students, and provision of communication gadgets to facilitate party-related work.
The serial callers claim that repeated appeals to the Communication Director and other party leaders have fallen on deaf ears, with promises going unfulfilled. They highlight a pledge made in September 2023 that, despite being in 2024, remains unmet with no apparent effort to rectify the situation.
The release also sheds light on the personal losses suffered by some members who, having invested their time and resources in advocating for the party, have lost their small businesses due to the lack of support.
Umar Faruk Sabonjida, speaking as the Group Secretary, emphasizes the unity of the striking members and warns of sanctions for anyone or group attempting to defy the strike. The statement concludes with a plea for understanding, stating, “We love our dear party, but we cannot continue working for the party in our present conditions. We are handicapped.”
The fallout raises questions about the internal dynamics within the NPP and the potential impact on the party’s public image. Stakeholders, including the Communication Director, Government Appointees, and the Regional Party Secretariat, are urged to address the concerns promptly to restore harmony within the party.
