The Northern Region Muslim Council has made a donation of food and assorted items to the Tamale Central Prisons to help ease the burden of inmates as they undergo fasting in the islamic holy month of Ramadan.
The items included; Bags of rice, sugar, Bags of sachet water, Cartons of Tea, loave0s of bread and dates among others.
Chairman of the Council, Sheikh Issah Alhassan Abubakari, who handed the items over to the Prison Authorities said the Month of Ramadan was not only for worship but for the extension of love and generosity to the less privilege. He explained that the intervention by the Council was to help the inmates undertake the fasting without any difficulty in terms of access to some basic needs.
The Leadership of the Northern Region Muslims Council also took the opportunity to pray Allah’s protection and guidance for the Prison Command and for the inmates.
The Prisons Commande Inchargeof donations, Supt. Kennedy Gbadam, received the items and expressed profound appreciation to the Muslim Council for the kind intervention.
He also made a passionate appeals to individuals and organisations to emulate the generosity of the Council.
