The Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the Savelugu Constituency is leading an effort to resolve a long-standing water crisis faced by the people of Sakpuli, a farming community in the Savelugu Municipality.
The community has long relied on the only dam in the area for both household use and irrigation, but the harsh weather conditions have rendered it inadequate, particularly during the dry-hot season when it struggles to retain water. As a result, residents, especially women and children, have been forced to endure arduous journeys to fetch water from distant sources daily.
Recognizing the need for action, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz has allocated funding for the dredging and expansion of the dam, ensuring its sustainability beyond the dry season.
This intervention by the candidate is expected to alleviate the economic and social burdens faced by the community, particularly by easing the daily struggles of women who bear the brunt of water scarcity.
The community speaking through their chief commended the Hajia Fatahiya for her gesture, saying the dredging and expansion of the dam when completed will provide much-needed relief to the people of Sakpuli and surrounding areas, promising a brighter and water-secure future for the constituency.
