In a gesture aimed at fostering education and alleviating the financial burden on families within his constituency, The Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hon. Hassan Tampuli, has disbursed an amount of 200,970 Cedis to support 212 students pursuing tertiary education across the country.
Speaking to the media after the funds’ disbursement, the Deputy Minister for Transport expressed his commitment to easing the financial strain on parents, emphasizing his dedication to supporting the educational pursuits of his constituents.
He highlighted that this year’s disbursement particularly prioritized students undertaking specialized courses such as law and medicine, ensuring they received full funding for their studies, while other students pursuing non-specialized courses received varying sums to cover tuition and related expenses.
The MP disclosed that a portion of the funds allocated for this initiative was derived from his parliamentary salary, underlining his personal investment in the education and future prospects of the students from his constituency. He urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously, emphasizing the importance of academic dedication in justifying the investment being made in them.
Describing the intervention as timely, Mohammed Shahadu Abdulai, a beneficiary and student of the Gushegu Midwifery and Nursing Training College, commended the MP for his support towards their educational pursuit. He said the support will go a long way to ensure the empowerment the teeming youth of the Gushegu area.
