Walewale: NDC Battles EC Over Alleged Siting Voter Registration Centers In NPP Strongholds
The NDC in the Walewale Constituency of the Northeast Region has condemned the Electrol Commission Of Ghana ( EC) over unjust decision to site the registration centers in the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party.
The opposition Party said the Election Body disregarded legitimate needs of marginalised communities such as Arigu, Kurugu, Mimima and Shelinvoya.
In a Press Statement, the Party stated that it is deeply troubling the Electrol Commission has chosen to ignore the pleas of communities like Arigu, Kurugu, Mimima and Shelinvoya, which faces significant challenges in accessing registration centers, while favoring areas like Nasia, Fungu, Daboya and Yama, which conveniently located in NPP strongholds.
It added that the decision to allocate a registration center in Nasia, a community situated on the highway while denying registration centers to communities which are hard- to- reach is not only unfair but also insulting to the electorates in those areas.
The Electrol Commission’s blatant favoritism towards NPP strongholds raises serious concerns about the integrity and impartiality of the electoral process in the Walewale Constituency.
“It is evident that the Electrol Commission has become a puppet of the NPP, prioritizing partisan interest over democratic rights of all Ghanaians”.
The NDC served notice that it is more than prepared to counter any attempts by the NPP and the Electrol Commission to manipulate the electoral process for their own gain.
