In a move set to transform local sports infrastructure, Mrs. Felicia Tettey, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Sagnarigu Constituency, officially broke ground today for the construction of a state-of-the-art astroturf football pitch at the Hilaliya school park.
The modern facility, estimated to cost 3.4 million Cedis, is projected to be completed within six months. Once finished, it is expected to significantly enhance sports activities and help in discovering and nurturing football talent in the Sagnarigu area.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mrs. Tettey highlighted the multifaceted benefits of the project.
“Apart from football, the facility will also serve as a befitting venue for community durbars and other social gatherings,” she said. She urged the community to support the contractor when work commences.
Mrs. Tettey also assured the assembled Chiefs and community members that the astroturf facility symbolizes the beginning of numerous development projects.
She promised to bring comprehensive development to the area if elected as the Member of Parliament in the 2024 elections.
A representative of the Chief of Sagnarigu praised Mrs. Tettey for her commitment to development.
“The people have seen her work and will certainly make their choice in the December election based on her track record,” he stated.
The Hilaliya school park, which currently serves as the training ground for the Anfaani Football Club and Anfaani Ladies, is set to become a key sports hub upon the project’s completion.
