A group calling itself Champions for Napo and Bawumia have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, following his confirmation as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The decision, endorsed by President Nana Akufo-Addo and ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC), highlights Dr. Napo’s exceptional qualities and dedication to the progress of Ghana.

The group say flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, could not have appointed any person than Mathew Opoku Prempeh who has had a distinguished career in public service, demonstrating remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to the principles of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As a four-term Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency and a former Minister for Education, the Energy Minister has driven significant positive changes, notably through the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

This initiative, according to the group, has provided over two million young Ghanaians with access to quality education, solidifying Dr. Napo’s reputation as one of the best-performing ministers.

As Energy Minister, Dr. Prempeh, has played a crucial role in maintaining a stable power supply in Ghana, navigating global economic challenges, and ensuring reliable electricity for national development and economic growth. The Champions for Napo and Bawumia said the Manhyia South Lawmaker’s strong grassroots connections and genuine rapport with party foot soldiers have further solidified his support base, essential for a successful electoral campaign and party unity.

Dr. Prempeh affectionately called Napo strong advocacy for youth empowerment has also been noteworthy.

His mentorship and support for young Ghanaians aspiring to leadership roles have been instrumental in building future leaders for the nation. His close ties with the chiefs and people of Asanteman, along with his representation of the Busia tradition, contribute significantly to the party’s regional and cultural diversity.

The Northern Champions for Napo and Bawumia emphasized Napo’s resourcefulness and commitment to a well-funded and strategic campaign, enhancing the NPP’s chances of securing victory in the 2024 general elections.
