A Polling Station Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Gbolo Primary, has strongly refuted claims that he has thrown his support behind Atta Issah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Sagnarigu.
Mr. Issahaku Abdul Nasir described the claims as baseless and “desperate lies” aimed at discrediting his loyalty and support to the ruling NPP.
In a statement during a media interview, Mr. Nasir revealed that the unfounded rumors began circulating after a photo of him alongside Atta Issah was widely shared on social media. The image sparked speculation among his colleagues and NPP supporters, leading to concerns that he might be defecting to the NDC.
Mr. Nasir clarified the situation, explaining that while Atta Issah and his campaign team had indeed conducted door-to-door outreach in the area, he never endorsed the NDC candidate or expressed any intention to defect.
He maintained his unwavering commitment to the NPP and dismissed the rumors as a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation.
“I challenge Atta Issah to provide any evidence that I declared support for him or his party,” Mr. Nasir stated.
“These lies are meant to create distrust between myself and the NPP leadership, particularly with our parliamentary candidate, Hon. Felicia Tettey. I urge him to cease this smear campaign immediately.”
Mr. Nasir also issued a stern warning to Atta Issah, demanding the removal of the controversial picture and an apology for the harm caused. He cautioned that failure to comply would result in further action, though he did not specify the nature of the consequences.
The incident has sparked reactions within the local political landscape, with many NPP members rallying behind Mr. Nasir, affirming their trust in his loyalty and dedication to the party’s cause.
As of now, Atta Issah has yet to respond to the ultimatum issued by Mr. Nasir.
