An independent parliamentary candidate in the Nanton Constituency, Mr. Abubakari Issah, has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming December 2024 elections in favor of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Hardi Tufeiru.
Issah’s decision was made public today, September 13, 2024, through a press release shared with Nasara TV.
Issah explained that his withdrawal followed careful consideration and consultations with influential political figures, including members of the CLUB 824 with Bawumia, former Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Sa-eed, and the National Campaign Coordinator.
Issah, who had planned to run as an independent candidate, revealed that his decision stems from a desire to foster unity and ensure the progress of the constituency.
“I believe that unity and victory are essential for the progress of our constituency,” Mr. Issah stated, emphasizing that stepping aside would allow for a unified front in support of Hon. Tufeiru, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate.
In his appeal to supporters, Mr. Issah urged them to remain calm and redirect their efforts toward ensuring Hon. Tufeiru’s re-election, adding that a collective effort was crucial for the NPP to secure a resounding victory in the December elections.
Issah expressed his gratitude to CLUB 824 with Bawumia and other key stakeholders for their guidance throughout his decision-making process. He affirmed his commitment to the constituency’s development, even without pursuing his candidacy.
This move is expected to consolidate support within the NPP and strengthen Hon. Hardi Tufeiru’s position as he seeks re-election in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
