Zogbeli Education Scholarship Fund Committee Disburses School Fees To Tertiary Students
Over the weekend, the Zogbeli Education Scholarship Fund Committee successfully disbursed school fees to 105 first-year tertiary students, consisting of 80 ladies and 25 boys, reflecting a distribution of 76% female and 24% male beneficiaries.
Although the total number of beneficiaries is set at 200, this initial disbursement focused on first-year students, while continuing students will receive their fees by the end of next week once the fees are confirmed.
This initiative marks a significant advancement in supporting education within the Tamale Metropolis.
On Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Minister for Finance, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Karaga Constituency, launched a separate endeavor , a One Million Ghana Cedis Scholarship Fund aimed at assisting academically talented but financially disadvantaged students from the Abobao, Zogbeli, and Lamakara electoral areas.
In a brief speech, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Abdallah Ahmed, expressed profound gratitude to the Finance Minister for his unwavering commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in the community.
He emphasized how this initiative would empower less privileged students and promote education in the area.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Alhaji Issahak Tanko, assured attendees that the selection process for scholarship beneficiaries was conducted with diligence and transparency, ensuring it remained free from political influences.
He highlighted that the committee comprises religious leaders, opinion leaders, and financial advisors, all of whom contribute their expertise to the selection process.
Mr. Sham-Una Ghazi, a member of the committee, presented detailed statistics regarding the beneficiaries, illustrating the positive impact of the initiative.
He highlighted that the Finance Minister began both his Arabic and formal education in the Zogbeli community at the Markaziya E/A School, which hosted the event.
Many beneficiaries expressed their excitement and heartfelt gratitude, fervently praying for the Finance Minister to be retained as MP so that he can continue his generous support for the less privileged.
