Tolon : Habib Iddrisu Donates Start-up Kits And Cash To Support Newly Graduated Artisans.
The Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency and Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, affectionately known as Soyalana, has made a significant contribution to support newly graduated artisans across the constituency.
He donated start-up kits and cash to assist these artisans in establishing their own businesses.
Addressing the artisans during the donation ceremony, Hon. Habib expressed his commitment to supporting the development of the youth in his constituency, noting that this marks the third time he has provided equipment and cash donations specifically to newly graduated artisans.
He emphasized that he has personally funded the cost of these start-up kits and cash donations.
“This is the first time a Member of Parliament in this constituency has supported newly graduated artisans with equipment and funds,” he stated.
Hon. Soyalana clarified that the selection process for beneficiaries is transparent and devoid of political bias, as it is conducted by the executives of the artisan groups, independent of his party’s influence.
He highlighted his track record of developmental projects in the areas of education, health, providing water access, road rehabilitation, and achieving nearly 100% electricity coveragein the Tolon District.
He pledged to continue these efforts and alleviate poverty in his second term, as he has laid a strong foundation for development during his first term.
Hon. Soyalana urged constituents to re-elect him, stressing that doing so would enable him to bring even more development to the area.
He announced that each graduate would also receive a cash amount of GH₵500 in addition to the donated equipment.
Nyab Nyakpala Lana commended the MP for his intervention and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the equipment effectively, given the significant investment he has made in securing these resources.
He also appealed to the youth to refrain from causing unrest in the upcoming elections, promoting peaceful engagement.
The Regional Representative of the Garment Makers Association, speaking on behalf of the executives, masters, and graduates, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Habib for his support.
He noted that the MP’s actions have alleviated the burden on the association, which traditionally provides equipment to newly graduated artisans.
He described the gesture as historic and emphasized its positive impact on job creation in the community.
The representative disclosed that, since the MP has covered the expenses for the graduation ceremony, the association will return the monies contributed by the graduates towards the event.
In total, 400 tailors, 96 hairdressers, 114 weavers, and 34 barbers graduated this year, with each graduate receiving a start-up kit and funds to help them embark on their business ventures.
