Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Savelugu, has officially cut the sod for the construction of two important road projects: the Kumbungu to Savelugu road and the Dipala to Gushei road.
During her speech at the sod-cutting ceremonies, Hajia Fatahiya emphasized the significance of the road rehabilitation projects, highlighting their socio-economic benefits for the people of Savelugu, Kumbungu, and particularly the communities of Moglaa, Bihi Naayili, and Tarikpaa.
She noted that the completion of these roads would greatly enhance access to educational and health facilities within the constituency.
Hajia Fatahiya praised the substantial investments made in the road sector by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Alhaji Bawumia over the years.
She outlined several landmark projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo administration in the constituency, including the Savelugu Rice Processing Factory under the One District One Factory initiative, the Digital Solutions Centre, and Agenda 111.
Furthermore, she shared insights into initiatives she has personally spearheaded, such as the establishment of a Savelugu Community Centre, securing a National Health Insurance Office, and empowerment programs for youth and women.
She emphasized her commitment to maintaining all road infrastructure in Savelugu since the beginning of the year to ensure easy access for farming communities and to boost economic and social activities, particularly in agriculture and market access.
Appealing to the chiefs and community members, Hajia Fatahiya urged them to cooperate fully with the contractor and his team to ensure the successful execution of the project within the stipulated timeframe.
She also acknowledged the vital role played by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye, who recently visited the constituency and provided essential resources for the project.
Hajia Fatahiya encouraged constituents to vote for her and Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections to continue the development momentum in the constituency.
The chiefs of the beneficiary communities, including Nyab Moglaa Lana , Gushei Naa, Tuunaa Yili Lana, and a representative of Yoo Naa, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Hajia Fatahiya for her timely intervention regarding the construction of the roads.
They shared personal experiences regarding the negative impacts of the dilapidated roads, especially during the rainy season, and urged constituents to elect leaders who prioritize development and their welfare.
The chiefs also prayed for Hajia Fatahiya and pledged their support for her candidacy.
On behalf of the contractor, Messrs Takara Bigiza Ventures Ltd, the representative detailed the technical specifications for the project.
The agreement for the commencement of works is set for November 18, 2024, with an intended completion date of November 18, 2025.
However, the Contractor incharge of the road projects pledged to complete it ahead of the stipulated agreement.
The first lot of the project spans 3.0 km with a project cost of GH₵ 14,795,519.14, which includes extensive clearing, road formation, drainage works, and the installation of culverts.
Both road projects, totaling 6.0 km, aim to significantly improve transportation and accessibility for communities in the Savelugu and Kumbungu constituencies, thus fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
