The Progressive Youth Group of the New Patriotic Party in the Yendi Constituency today embarked on health walk in to drum home the message of peace and unity ahead of election 2024.
Amidst drumming, dancing and draped in party colours, hundreds of supporters walked through some principal streets of the Dagbang capital before ending up at the Community Center where leadership of the Group addressed them.
Convener of the group, Mohammed Shaban said the aim of the Peace and Unity Walk was more than projecting individuals of the party but to cultivate a strong and cohesive grassroots movement that would unite us in its purpose and objectives.
He said also that the walk was a platform for connecting with like-minded individuals and building relationship that will be crucial in achieving success in the December elections.
“It provides us an opportunity to unite, exchange ideas, renew friendship and devise strategies to effectively mobilize support for our party for victory in the upcoming election,” the convener noted.
The NPP in the Yendi area has been sharply divided over the two candidates who participated in the parliamentary primaries in January this year to select a candidate for the party for election 2024. The Election proved inconclusive as no winner was declared due to the destruction of election materials following violence that erupted at the of the polls.
