On Saturday, October 26, a massive crowd gathered for the historic launch of the Zabzugu Constituency NPP Campaign in Kukpalgu, rallying behind Alhaji Fawaz Aliu, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency.

The event drew notable party leaders, including Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markins, Deputy Majority Chief Whip and MP for Tolon Constituency, Hon. Habib Iddrisu, Northern Regional Minister, regional executives, national executives, parliamentary candidates, and enthusiastic party faithful.

In his address, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markins appealed to the constituents of Zabzugu to elect Alhaji Fawaz Aliu.

He asserted that increasing parliamentary seats is vital for facilitating a smooth administration under Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate.
Afenyo-Markins highlighted the disruption caused by NDC MPs due to the current lack of an overwhelming majority, which impedes parliamentary business.
Urging constituents not to vote for any independent candidate based solely on tribal affiliations, he emphasized choosing Alhaji Fawaz, who he believes will continue to drive development in the area.

The Majority Leader reiterated the significance of electing both Dr. Bawumia and Alhaji Fawaz for rapid development, noting that Dr. Bawumia’s election would be historic as it would mark the first time a Muslim is elected President of Ghana.
Hon. Habib Iddrisu, the Deputy Majority Chief Whip, also spoke at the event, highlighting that NPP Members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates are focused on development, as evidenced by significant ongoing projects in their constituencies.

He expressed confidence that Alhaji Fawaz, if elected, would further advance development in the Zabzugu Constituency.
Alhaji Fawaz Aliu shared his track record of development projects within the constituency, which include drilling boreholes, establishing women empowerment programs, job placements for youth, road rehabilitation, and support initiatives for farmers.

He made a heartfelt plea to constituents to elect him and Dr. Bawumia to facilitate even more development projects, underscoring that the independent candidate backed by the NDC would not bring the necessary changes to the area.
Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, affectionately known as Prof. Haruna, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, represented the National Executives and called for unity within the constituency to strengthen the campaign efforts for Alhaji Fawaz.

Additionally, Clara Napaga Tia Sulemana, the National Coordinator for Special Development Initiatives, echoed the call to elect Alhaji Fawaz and Dr. Bawumia to enhance development and ensure the sustainability of NPP policies and projects.

Participants in the campaign launch expressed optimism that Alhaji Fawaz would successfully retain the seat for the NPP, marking a significant step towards ongoing development and progress in the Zabzugu Constituency.
