Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), visited the Sagnarigu Constituency, on Tuesday, 5 November, as part of his campaign tour in the Northern Region.
During his visit, he engaged with associations of artisans and emphasized the NPP’s commitment to development, particularly in the Sagnarigu area.
In addressing the artisans, Dr. Opoku Prempeh asserted that the NPP is the party that brings meaningful development to the Northern Region.
He pointed out that despite the Constituency’s historical support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), it continues to lack basic social amenities and infrastructure. He urged the artisans to vote for Dr. Bawumia and Felicia Tettey, believing that their leadership will support local skill development by providing startup kits and essential equipment.
He highlighted Felicia Tettey as the right candidate to advocate for their needs.Dr. Opoku Prempeh also made a strong appeal for constituents to elect Dr. Bawumia as the first Muslim President of Ghana.
He noted the NPP’s commitment to inclusiveness, having previously elected both a Christian and a Muslim as Flagbearer and running mate, respectively, and now making history with a Muslim as Flagbearer.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh suggested that voting for the NDC and its flagbearer would be a “sin” for any Muslim, underscoring his commitment to galvanizing the Muslim electorate towards the NPP.
He criticized the NDC Flagbearer for failing to bring development to the Northern Region and touted various development projects initiated by the NPP, such as the Tamale Interchange and several road construction projects.
In her remarks, Felicia Tettey, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Sagnarigu, expressed her gratitude to Dr. Opoku Prempeh for visiting the constituency.
She emphasized that elections should focus on development and urged voters to consider their choice carefully.
Mrs. Tettey highlighted her ongoing support for artisans in the area and asserted that electing Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Opoku Prempeh would usher in further development, particularly through the provision of startup kits and equipment for artisans.
She also pointed out the shortcomings of the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Sagnarigu, claiming that he is unable to deliver the necessary development because he has never voted in the constituency.
The visit concluded with a call to action of door- to- door campaign.
