WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: ACESD ORGANIZERS A – DAY TRAINING ON SOAP MAKING FOR WOMEN IN TUUTINGLI
African Canadian Centre for Employment and Skills Development(ACESD) has organised a-day training on soap making for 22 women at Tuutingli a suburb of Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region.
The women were drawn from Kpanvo, Banvim, Fooshegu and Tuutingli with fundings support from friends of the ACESD .
The Board Chair Person of Africa Canadian Centre for Employment( ACESD), Miss Paula Akanko , addressing the beneficiaries at the end of the train , said , the training was not only in soap making but they also equip them on how to package their products to ensure that their products compete with other existing brands on the market.
She said their main objective was to ensure that they alleviate poverty at the grassroots especially the vulnerable women in the communities.
Miss Akanko stated that the ideal of their organisation was to equipped the women with vocational skills that could revive their economic activities in their respective communities.
This, according to her, through the training they could use the knowledge gained to cater themselves and their families.
She said the organisation was still lobbying through individuals, friends and other organsations to support them bring more women on board to train them.
The Board Chair added that the training was also to empower the women to be self-reliant and called on them to ensure prudent management of their finances as they were set to start their own businesses.
Miss Akanko said empowering women to be economically independent was the organisation priority and urged them to take advantage of the opportunity given to them to improved on their skills.
She however advised them to take anything they were doing serious to better their business ahead.
Nma Maliyama Abdulai, on behalf of her colleagues applauded the organisation for given them the training free of charge.
She said they would not disappoint them they use the knowledge to expand their businesses.
