SAVELUGU: Hajia Fatahiya Commissions Electricity for Sakpuli and Toteinyili

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Savelugu Constituency, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has fulfilled her campaign promise of connecting the communities of Sakpuli and Toteinyili to the national electricity grid. The commissioning ceremony took place yesterday, December 5, just over 24 hours before the general elections.

The two communities, which had been without electricity for years, have long suffered from disrupted social and economic activities. Women in particular have had to travel long distances daily to access basic services such as grinding mills and phone-charging stations.

Speaking at the commissioning in Sakpuli, Hajia Fatahiya expressed her belief that parliamentary representation is about service and the ability to leverage networks to bring development. She described the electricity connection as evidence of her lobbying skills and promised more development projects if elected.

“Connecting these communities to the national grid is just the beginning. As your Member of Parliament, I will bring more life-changing projects to transform the constituency. I appeal to you to vote massively for me and the NPP in the December 7 elections,” she said.

The event was attended by Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, the Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu, who lauded Hajia Fatahiya’s impressive track record. She urged the residents to reward the candidate’s efforts by voting her into Parliament.

Hajia Fatahiya’s interventions since announcing her candidacy have included providing electricity to several communities, supporting students with scholarships, facilitating youth employment, improving roads, and empowering women entrepreneurs with capital.

Residents of Sakpuli and Toteinyili expressed their gratitude for the electricity connection. Mohammed Kubura, a resident of Sakpuli, highlighted the benefits of the project, stating, “With electricity in our community, students can now study at night, and women will no longer have to travel long distances to grind their mills. Water supply will also improve with the possibility of mechanized boreholes.”

Hajia Fatahiya was accompanied on her tour by Hajia Rahana Abdul Aziz, the NPP’s Regional Women’s Organizer; the constituency chairman; and other party executives. Also present was Hajia Abibata, a UK-based medical practitioner, who has been leading medical outreach programs in the constituency to improve healthcare access.
